SACEA

The South African Colliery Engineers’ Association

Founded in 1979, the Association aims to uphold the status of the Engineering and Mining profession by providing mutual assistance and advancement of Engineering in the coal mining and associated industries. Throughout the year SACEA arranges meetings for the interchange of ideas and information, the discussion of new problems and the promotion of technical, intellectual and social intercourse of members.

SACEA is recognized through the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Voluntary Association which provides some influence in terms of the accreditation of learning materials and institutions, as well as strengthening the Association’s role with regard to registration matters. MISSION

  1. To actively influence the development and compliance to practical safety, health, environmental and sustainable development legislation, leading practices and standards.

  3. To be the acknowledged representative body for members and industry in influencing policy formulation in decision making forums

SACEA Members are known for their specialized industry knowledge. They’ve made a deep personal commitment to develop and improve their skills, and, where appropriate, they have the degrees and certifications that serve as the foundation of this knowledge.

Dynamic

The Mining industry is characterized by constant change, activity, and progress. SACEA aims to remain ahead of the curb by employing an expansive dynamic which invades every mining enclave and shapes the whole of the South African coal industry.

Value Adding

SACEA Values Knowledge. Through the arrangement of meetings, seminars, technical visits and other networking events, ideas get distributed throughout the industry and new solutions to industry problems are conceived and discussed in a professional and structured forum.

Influential

No other Engineering Association has as much influence on the South African Coal Industry as SACEA. Government regulations can influence behavior, but often without changing underlying values and motivations. Through innovation and inclusion SACEA aims to bridge this gap.
